Registered Nurse Mary Fisler, RN, BSN was recently named Marshall Medical Center’s 2006 Hero in Healthcare. Mary was one of twelve employees and physicians who were nominated by their patients and peers. One of the main criteria for nominations is stated as “those who have continuously and consistently shown exceptional commitment and service, above and beyond normal expectations.” A panel of judges from the community made a difficult choice among the many inspiring stories behind each nomination.

| Mary, who works in Marshall’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, received six nominations. She was commended for her dedication to Marshall and the cardiac program; her ability to relate to her patient’s needs and concerns; the fact that she provides extraordinary service, dedication and sensitivity; and her excellent communication skills. Mary has also volunteered many hours toward fundraising and community education at events such as the
Heartwalk, the Diabetes/Heart Disease Health Awareness Fair, the Cameron Park Summer Spectacular and National Night Out. According to James Whipple, Marshall Medical Center administrator and CEO, “Mary is a fabulous example of the kind of people we want providing care at our hospital. There are just so many heroes here at Marshall.” |
