Course Description
This course consists of a series of group demonstrations, practice, teaching and testing stations to develop the learner’s knowledge and skills in the following areas:
· BLS primary & ACLS secondary survey
· Airway management
· Electrical therapy
· Dysrhythmia recognition and therapy
· Cardiovascular pharmacology
· Myocardial infarction
· Stroke

Eligibility
Registrants must be health care providers, i.e., medical, nursing, paramedical, or allied health personnel whose daily occupations or volunteer activities demand proficiency in the knowledge and skills of ACLS and who are authorized by state law to perform some or all of these functions.

Applications are accepted on “first-come, first-served basis”. No spaces will be reserved by telephone. Pre-course study materials and confirmation will be mailed on receipt of required registration items. Registration requirements must be met by the class date. A full refund will be sent if class is cancelled by Marshall Medical.

We offer classes that will teach you how to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies. With the knowledge and skills you learn, you can save the life of a family member, friend, patient or coworker. Classes are available to everyone in the community.

BLS Healthcare Provider
Adult and Pediatric CPR

This is an AHA provider course designed for participants who work in the healthcare setting or are required to take a healthcare provider course for their employment. Course includes techniques for clearing airway obstruction and one- and two-person CPR for infants, children and adults. Classes are 4.5 hours long.

This course is designed for parents and babysitters, or anyone who is required to obtain a course completion card in infant, child and adult CPR, clearing away obstruction and automated external defibrillator (AED).

Heartsaver First Aid With CPR and AED
First Aid and Basic CPR

This (3.5 hour) AHA provider course is designed for the lay rescuer who is required to obtain a course completion card in First Aid and CPR. All rescuers will be taught the first aid skills recommended by OSHA to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes of an emergency until professional help arrives. You will also be trained in CPR, clearing airway obstruction and automated external defibrillator (AED).

Course Description:
This course follows the curriculum designed by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics. It consists of a series of group demonstration, practice teaching and testing stations to develop the learner's knowledge and skills. At the completion of the course, participants will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
- Provide Pediatric Basic Life Support
- Recognize impending respiratory failure and shock
- Stabilize and evaluate trauma victim
- Identify and treat rhythm disturbances
- Initiate the first 10 minutes of resuscitation

Eligibility:
Registrants must be health care providers, i.e., medical, nursing, paramedical, or allied health personnel whose daily occupations or volunteer activities demand proficiency in the knowledge and skills of PALS and who are authorized by state law to perform some or all of these functions.

This fun, interactive class teaches young people, ages 11 to 15, how to become competent and responsible baby-sitters. Through games, discussion, demonstration and role-play, this program covers child development, first aid and safety techniques. CPR is not covered. Class size is limited, so call to register well in advance of the start of class. Cardiac Lifestyle Education Classes

These classes are open to community enrollment. They are an addition to Marshall's Cardiac Rehabilitation program. Weekly lectures cover topics including Diet and Nutrition, Exercise and Your Heart, STRESS!, Medications, How the Heart Works, and Psychosocial Impact of Heart Disease. The fee is $5 for participants not enrolled in the Cardiac Rehabilitation program.

Healthy Living Diabetes Class Series

Diabetes is a serious condition that can affect you both physically and emotionally. Learning more about this disease, along with developing new methods for coping and managing, can really make a difference in your everyday life. Many people with diabetes live long, healthy, happy lives.

Allow us to be a part of your Diabetes Care Team. We offer a variety of services in a caring and compassionate atmosphere. We provide education and resources for healthy eating, being active, blood sugar monitoring, medications, problem solving, healthy coping and reducing risks. Together we can create a diabetes self-management plan tailored to your individual lifestyle.

Our program is certified by the American Diabetes Association.

Marshall Medical Center offers classes on diabetes and nutrition with excellent information for those recently diagnosed with diabetes or for those needing a review. Please refer to class information below.

Insurance Note:
Most of our services are covered by insurance, including Medicare. Check with your individual insurance plan to verify your coverage. Many insurance plans offer the greatest amount of coverage for Diabetes Education in the 1st year of participating in our program.

A physician referral is required to enroll in this program. Our staff can assist you with obtaining a referral from your health care provider.

Individual appointments with our diabetes educators are encouraged - especially when you are newly diagnosed, beginning a new medication or need extra support to gain control. We can guide you in learning new techniques, using the latest tools and can provide up-to-date information on the management of diabetes. Nutrition Counseling/Medical Nutrition Therapy:
