One of Marshall Medical Center’s guiding principles is “our patients come first,” but judging by the recent showing of generosity by Marshall employees you’d probably add, “our community comes first, too.” Employees were challenged last month to surpass last year’s donation of 203 baskets of holiday food. They responded, bringing in basket after basket chock full of holiday meal staples and other goodies – 233 baskets worth to be exact.

The display of abundant giving caused Marshall Administrator and CEO, James Whipple, to write to employees and remark on not only the number of baskets, but the quantity and quality of food in each. It’s all bound for several community organizations that serve people in need. “The baskets have been distributed to CASA, El Dorado Community Health Clinic, the El Dorado County Office of Education and SHARE; all of whom expressed their gratitude for the wonderful gift,” Whipple wrote.
The holiday basket drive has been a long standing Marshall tradition, and with a sluggish economy and predicted reductions in charitable giving this year, every added basket counts even more than usual.
