SUPPORT GROUP OFFERINGS FOR CANCER PATIENTS, FAMILIES AND FRIENDS

BREAST CANCER SUPPORT GROUP – This monthly support group for women with breast cancer is led by breast cancer survivors. 
Meets at Community Health Library, 681 Main Street in Placerville
2nd Monday 7-8:30 p.m. Contact Faye Alexander – 620-3436 or "Charlie" Hall – 644-3963.

REACH TO RECOVERY – Breast Cancer survivors make individual visits to new breast cancer patients immediately post surgery to provide information on reconstruction, prostheses, support programs, etc. Contact American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345.

I CAN COPE – The American Cancer Society offers a free monthly telephone conference on different cancer related topics. These classes are open to any current or past cancer patients, or any family members or friends. To find out the schedule or register for these conferences, contact Libertine DelRosario at 1-800-227-2345 or 916-446-7933, option 3, ext. 328. WOMEN'S CANCER SUPPORT GROUP OF POLLOCK PINES – A monthly support group for women who have cancer, or who have a loved one with cancer. Meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at 4101 Opal Trail (Gold Ridge Property Owners' Association Lodge). Contact Carol Steinbrecher at 647-2874.

LOOK GOOD, FEEL BETTER – Designed for women going through chemotherapy, this is a single session program to help women enhance their appearance with make up, scarves, wigs, turbans, etc. Meets monthly at Marshall's Cameron Park Cancer resource center at 3581 Palmer Drive, #402. Contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 to register.

LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP – Co-led by a nurse and a social worker, this group provides information, speakers, and support specifically designed to meet the needs of leukemia and lymphoma patients. Contact Cheryl Purgett at 626-2642, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at 1-800-410-8170.
Meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month – 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Cancer Services in Cameron Park, 3581 Palmer Drive, #402.

PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP – Led by a prostate cancer survivor, this group is specifically designed to provide information and support to men with prostate cancer as they gather information about their treatment options, and throughout the course of their illness. Contact Cheryl Purgett at 626-2642 or Robert Guthleben at 621-0688 or 748-7954.
Meets on the 1st Thursday of each month, 3-4:30 p.m. in Cameron park at 3581 Palmer Drive, #600.

ONE-TO-ONE – This is a program that matches longer-term cancer survivors or caregivers with newly diagnosed patients and families to help support, answer questions and provide helpful information and suggestions on coping with cancer. Contact Cancer Services at 295-7050.

OSTOMY SUPPORT GROUP – A monthly support group for people within with ostomies. Meets the 3rd Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. at Grandpa's Pharmacy, 7563 Green Valley Rd., Placerville. Call 823-9677.

BLADDER CANCER SUPPORT – Contact Al Krizelman at 650-328-6588. Organization run through UCSF, and is one of only two support groups in the nation. E-mail Al at Al@nebraskaoriginal.com.
