Childbirth Education: 6- Week Series
This class provides information on labor, delivery and postpartum. Topics include relaxation and breathing techniques, pain relief options
and the role of the birth partner.

Childbirth Education: 1-Day
Intensive
A custom-designed childbirth class for those who do not have the time for
the traditional 6-week class format. This condensed version of our class
series prepares mom and her support person for birth. Bring your lunch
for the short break. Snacks provided.

The Breastfeeding Experience:
Breast milk is nature’s perfect food and breastfeeding provides many
benefits to you and your baby. Get breastfeeding off to a good
start! This class will help you understand breastfeeding, learn
breastfeeding techniques and positions, and will give you the confidence

Tour the Birth Place - Marshall
Hospital's labor and delivery unit. Learn about the admission process
and have the opportunity to ask questions. Parents-to-be will meet at
the main admitting lobby in the hospital at the dates and times listed.
No registration is needed.

Super
Sitters
This fun, interactive class
teaches boys and girls, ages 11 to 15, how to become competent and responsible
baby-sitters. Through games, discussion, demonstration and role-play, this program covers
child development, first aid and safety techniques. CPR is not covered.
Call (530) 626-2990 for a registration form. Class size is limited, so
call to register well in advance of the start of class.
Classes are held 4 times per year, at 681 Main Street, Placerville PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

Health Promotion
Cardiac
Lifestyle Education Classes
These classes are open to community enrollment. They are an addition
to Marshall's Cardiac Rehabilitation program. Weekly lectures cover topics
including Diet and Nutrition, Exercise and Your Heart, STRESS!, Medications,
How the Heart Works, and Psychosocial Impact of Heart Disease. The fee is
$5 for participants not enrolled in the Cardiac Rehabilitation program.

Diabetes Education
Diabetes is a serious condition that can affect you both physically and emotionally. Learning more about this disease, along with developing new methods for coping and managing can really make a difference in your everyday life. Many people with diabetes live long, healthy, happy lives.
Allow us to be a part of your Diabetes Care Team. We offer a variety of services in a caring and compassionate atmosphere. We provide eduation and resources for healthy eating, being active, blood sugar monitoring, medications, problem solving, healthy coping and reducing risks. Together we can create a diabetes self-management plan tailored to your individual lifestyle.
Our program is certified by the American Diabetes Association. A physician referral is required to enroll in this program. Most of the services are covered by insurance, including Medicare*. For more information contact Health Promotions at 530-626-2990.

Individual Diabetes Education
Individual appointments with our diabetes educators are encouraged especially when you are newly diagnosed, beginning a new medication such as insulin or seem to need that extra attention to get back on track. We can guide you in learning new techniques, using the latest tools and can provide up to date information on the management of diabetes. This (3.5-hour) course is designed for parents
and babysitters, or anyone who is required to obtain a course completion card in
infant, child and adult CPR, clearing airway obstruction and automated external
defibrillator (AED).

Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED First Aid and Basic CPR
This (3.5-hour) AHA provider course is
designed for the lay rescuer who is required to obtain a course completion card
in First Aid and CPR. All rescuers will be taught the first aid skills
recommended by OSHA to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes of
an emergency until professional help arrives. You will also be trained
CPR, clearing airway obstruction and automated external defibrillator (AED).
