The Sierra Mobile Clinic will be shutting down temporarily on November 27,
2002 due to the resignation of its medical practitioner Judith Brandt, D.O.
The Sierra Mobile Clinic is a full service family practice clinic
on wheels that travels to a few different locations in the county,
providing care mainly for an underserved population that includes patients
without insurance or on Medi-Cal.
“Dr. Brandt’s resignation is a huge loss for the Mobile Clinic,” said
Marshall Medical primary care director Rick Vance.
"She has done a great job of caring for the under served population in this county and they will truly miss her.
We can’t say enough about her efforts on the Mobile Clinic these
past two years. ”Vance said the big problem now is to try and replace her.
“It would take us several months to recruit, hire and credential a new physician for the clinic,” Vance added.
“At this time, we have decided to try and reduce the time that
this population would have limited care by coordinating the Mobile Clinic
with the El Dorado Community Health Center. They believe they might be able to have a practitioner providing
care on the Mobile Clinic sometime in January.
We are looking into having the Mobile Clinic operate at the future
site of the Community Health Center off of Missouri Flat Road in
Placerville. The El Dorado
Community Health Center, a nonprofit primary care center funded by the
tobacco lawsuit funds, is scheduled to open in March or April of this year
and will be a wonderful facility where these patients can get the care
they need.”
Dr. Brandt will continue to see patients on the Mobile Clinic at its usual
locations until November 26, 2002. Until the Community Health Clinic starts operating the Mobile Clinic again,
patients are encouraged to seek care at the Divide Wellness Center, 6065
Highway 193, Georgetown, (530) 333 - 2548.
