On Thursday, November 19 between 8 a.m. and 12 noon, Marshall Medical Center in coordination with many local emergency response agencies will be conducting a Mass-Casualty Incident Drill at the hospital campus in Placerville.
This drill is intended to test our procedures for responding to a real incident involving multiple casualties. Hospital services will continue as usual; however, access to the Emergency Department will be altered during the drill. Access for both private vehicles and ambulances will be through the South Wing Lobby, which is the same building as the Emergency Department. Law enforcement and volunteers will be on site, as will traffic controls, to assist actual patients in accessing the Emergency Department. The normal Emergency entrance will NOT be accessible during this time. Plans are in place to ensure patient safety and rapid access to emergency services.
This drill is an important exercise to prepare for the worst case scenario and practice providing rapid triage and emergency care to a large number of injured patients arriving at the same time. All participating agencies appreciate the community's understanding and patience as we conduct this exercise. Any media who are onsite during the drill are here for the purpose of observing the drill.
