Michael Jones, MD, decided to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology because
it’s an area of medicine that is generally positive and full of
From pregnancy and childbirth to transitioning hormonal changes and dealing
with contraception, there are many significant events that are unique
to women. Dr. Jones considers it a privilege to be involved in helping
women navigate these events. Professional affiliations include the American
Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
Dr. Jones also takes his medical expertise overseas on mission trips. The
experiences “allow for a different perspective regarding personal
priorities,” he said. In the fall of 2016 he joined other volunteers
– Marshall Medical Center practitioner Dr. Timna Hughes, among them
– in Kenya. There, they provided diabetic testing supplies and procedures
to residents of remote settings.
Dr. Jones is married with four sons. He has lived and practiced in Placerville
for over two decades. When not in practice, he can be found landscaping,
bird-watching and traveling. He is also an accomplished photographer.
