Tonantzin E. (Tona) Rodriguez, MD, MPH, is a licensed family medicine physician
caring for patients of all ages at Marshall Sierra Primary Medicine in
Placerville. She arrived in 2017 after serving as Chief Resident of the
Sutter Health Family Medicine Residency Program.
After growing up in Northern California, Dr. Rodriguez takes pride in “treating
patients like family.” Dr. Rodriguez completed her undergraduate
degree at UC Davis, her master’s graduate degree at Fresno State,
and a research fellowship at the Harvard School of Public Health. She
earned her medical degree from the UC Davis School of Medicine.
Dr. Rodriguez has received numerous academic honors, including the UC Davis
Academic Medicine Award. She enjoys mentoring and teaching students, in
addition to serving the underserved community. Dr. Rodriguez spent several
years volunteering at a free clinic in Sacramento, providing care for

(AAFP) and the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA). In her leisure
time, Dr. Rodriguez enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
