Kathleen Hertzer, MD, PhD, is a board certified general surgeon at Marshall
General Surgery in Placerville. She received her medical degree from Indiana
University School of Medicine.
She finished her general surgery residency at David Geffen School of Medicine,
UCLA. Her clinical interests are broad and include laparoscopic and robotic
techniques, acute care and trauma surgery, colorectal, breast, foregut,
hernia and other aspects of general surgery. Dr. Hertzer likes to fix
problems for patients that make a big difference to their health and comfort.
Prior to joining Marshall, Dr. Hertzer worked in the general surgery department
at Kaiser Permanente, Woodland Hills, CA.
Before pursuing a career in medicine, Dr. Hertzer earned a Bachelor of
Music in Piano Performance. She decided against becoming a professional
musician, but she still plays at home.
Dr. Hertzer enjoys hiking, cooking, traveling and of course, music. She
grew up in the East Bay and is happy to be back in Northern California
