About Necati Uygur Tekin

Uygur Tekin, MD, is board certified in cardiology, critical care medicine and internal medicine. His experience handling critically ill patients helps him in caring for his cardiology patients. He joined Marshall Cardiology in 2006.

Dr. Tekin is a native of Turkey. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1990. Between 1994 and 1996, he completed fellowships from Lenox Hill Hospital (internal medicine) and Mount Sinai Medical Center (critical care) in New York City. He then earned a cardiology fellowship in 1999 from Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. Before moving his practice to Placerville in 2006, he served as chief of staff at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital in Alice, Texas.

Professional affiliations include the American College of Physicians, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Tekin performs most coronary angiographies by radial artery approach, which reduces bleeding and helps in the recovery process.

Dr. Tekin and wife Derya have become experienced raising their two children while all relatives remain in Turkey. Depending on the time of year, he enjoys skiing, tennis, swimming, going to the movies, or attending live events with his family at Folsom’s Harris Center.
