The ACLS Instructor-led course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).
Target Audience: The ACLS Course is for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, and paramedics, as well as others who need an ACLS course completion card for job or other requirements.

We offer classes that will teach you how to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies. With the knowledge and skills you learn, you can save the life of a family member, friend, patient or coworker. Classes are available to everyone in the community.

This (4.0 hour) AHA provider course is designed for the lay rescuer who is required to obtain a course completion card in First Aid and CPR. All rescuers will be taught the first aid skills recommended by OSHA to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes of an emergency until professional help arrives. You will also be trained in CPR, clearing airway obstruction and automated external defibrillator (AED).

The PALS Instructor-led course uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.
Target Audience: The PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.

The class is designed to prepare you and your caregiver for your hospitalization and recovery period.  You will learn what to expect during your hospital stay and how to actively participate in your care.  You will learn exercises that will strengthen you and help prepare your body for surgery and the recovery period.  Pre-operative classes have been shown to reduce the time required for the healing process.  These classes will be held in our Cameron Park classroom, room 600.

Healthy Living Diabetes Class Series

Diabetes is a serious condition that can affect you both physically and emotionally. Learning more about this disease, along with developing new methods for coping and managing, can really make a difference in your everyday life. Many people with diabetes live long, healthy, happy lives.

Allow us to be a part of your Diabetes Care Team. We offer a variety of services in a caring and compassionate atmosphere. We provide education and resources for healthy eating, being active, blood sugar monitoring, medications, problem solving, healthy coping and reducing risks. Together we can create a diabetes self-management plan tailored to your individual lifestyle.

Our program is certified by the American Diabetes Association.

Marshall Medical Center offers classes on diabetes and nutrition with excellent information for those recently diagnosed with diabetes or for those needing a review. Please refer to class information below.

Insurance Note:
Most of our services are covered by insurance, including Medicare. Check with your individual insurance plan to verify your coverage. Many insurance plans offer the greatest amount of coverage for Diabetes Education in the 1st year of participating in our program.

A physician referral is required to enroll in this program. Our staff can assist you with obtaining a referral from your health care provider.

Art Classes - Throughout each month, a variety of art therapy classes will be available for a small fee to anyone interested. Examples of the types of classes offered include sculpting, Japanese ink painting, and card making. Gentle Yoga - Whether you are a yoga fanatic or new to the art, this class is for you. These six week workshops will enhance your spiritual, emotional and physical well-being through the gentle art of yoga. Reservations required, $50 fee per person. Introduction to Chemotherapy - Is chemotherapy in your treatment plan? Every Wednesday from 10:00 am-12:00 pm, a nurse navigator, social worker and infusion nurse will gather to educate patients on what to expect during chemotherapy, in hopes of easing the transition and eliminating any barriers to care. Reservations recommended. Family, friends and caregivers welcome.

Look Good, Feel Better - Designed for women going through chemotherapy and/or radiation, this free class, held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 1:00-3:00 pm, helps women enhance their appearance and mood, with make up, scarves, hats and wigs. Reservations required.

Lymphedema Education Class - Are you concerned about your risk of lymphedema? Join us for this free information session on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 1:00-3:00 pm to learn the signs, prevention and treatment. Reservations required. Family, friends and caregivers welcome.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program - This nationwide program is designed to teach mind and body awareness techniques to help live with physical or psychological symptoms due to stress, pain or illness. Taught in eight week sessions, this class is available for $150 per person, plus the cost of books to anyone interested.
