Autoimmune Diseases

Autoimmune diseases are conditions where the body’s immune system malfunctions and starts attacking healthy cells. These conditions can attack several areas of the body, and typically result in pain, inflammation, redness, and swelling. They can occur in anyone at any time, though they typically develop in women.

These conditions have no cure, but they can be treated to alleviate pain and symptoms. Our rheumatologists draw from numerous proven, evidence-based practices to provide patients with effective pain management techniques.

What is Arthritis?

Arthritis is a very common condition that causes chronic joint pains. There are more than 100 types of arthritis and they can affect people of all ages, though they usually manifest in elderly patients. It can be caused by disease, autoimmune disease, wear and tear on the joints, or infections. The symptoms can come and go, but most people will experience chronic joint pain, stiffness, swelling, and decreased range of motion.

Treatment for arthritis may involve pain medication, physical therapy, joint repair or replacement surgery and integrated medicine such as acupuncture or massage.

You do not have to live with arthritis pain. Our experienced rheumatology team will develop a customized treatment plan that addresses your specific type of arthritis. We utilize a variety of pain management techniques that allow patients to regain their range of motion and live pain-free, independent lives.
