The Importance of Mental Health
Never underestimate the importance of your mental health. Stress, depression,
and anxiety take a tremendous toll on the mind and body, and it’s
not always easy to overcome these feelings without help. We strongly believe
in a person’s ability to achieve good mental health through counseling
and therapy. Medications are prescribed therapy, as our primary goal is
to help you reach a place of emotional clarity by addressing the mental
and physical aspects of your condition.
Below is an overview of some mental conditions:
-
Depression – When dealing with clinical depression, even getting out of bed can seem
like an impossible task. This condition can be difficult to empathize
with if you’ve never experienced it personally. For people struggling
with these feelings, trying to see things more positively is extremely
difficult, and their inability to feel happy can cause them to sink further
into depression. Some of the side effects of depression include appetite
changes, lethargy, and thoughts of suicide.
-
Anxiety – Sometimes mistaken for shyness or stand-offish behavior, anxiety disorders
include a variety of thoughts and feelings that make people feel tense
or fearful. Anxiety can be the result of both physical conditions and
social conditioning. It can lead to sleep disorders, high blood pressure,
irritability, and panic attacks that may feel similar to a heart attack.
-
Disruptive Behavior – It can be difficult to tell whether or not your child has a disruptive
behavior as children often have temper tantrums and lash out in unexpected
ways. However, when this behavior is so consistent that it becomes a constant
concern in your life, it is time to consult with a psychiatrist.
-
ADHD – Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is a genetic condition that affects
the brain. People with this condition have a hard time paying attention
to any one topic for even a brief period of time. They may seem restless
and disinterested and have a difficult time focus in school. There is
no cure for ADHD, meaning if someone has it as a child, they will carry
it into adulthood. ADHD can be managed with counseling and medication.
The earlier patients begin treatment, the better they will be able to
control their condition as they get older.
