Board of Directors

The Marshall Hospital Corporation was founded in 1956 and continues to operate as a nonprofit, public benefit corporation. Marshall is organized without any intention of pecuniary gain to any person, persons or corporation. Marshall uses its funds for upgrading programs, purchasing new equipment and developing medical services that provide for the healthcare needs of the community.

The Marshall Board of Directors is a volunteer group of community members who provide their time and experience to set policies, maintain Marshall’s financial stability and make decisions that affect the future of the organization.

George Neilsen
George Nielsen, Chair

George is a longtime Placerville resident. He served as the Placerville Chief of Police from 2004-2013, and had over 30 years of public safety service upon retirement. George is currently the Directors of Operations for a technology corporation. He has served many local organizations, including as president of the Marshall Foundation for Community Health Board of Trustees.

Jon Haugaard
Jon Haugaard, Vice Chair

Jon is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 32 years of experience in accounting, auditing and risk management, primarily with financial institutions. He has been with El Dorado Savings Bank since 2003 as the Director of Audit, and currently as the Chief Financial Officer.

Tom Cumpston
Tom Cumpston, Secretary/Treasurer

Tom is a retired attorney and active community volunteer, also serving on the boards of New Morning Youth and Family Services and the Marshall Foundation for Community Health, as well as a member of the Placerville Measure H/L Sales Tax Citizens’ Advisory Committee and the County Parks and Recreation Commission. He was formerly El Dorado Irrigation District’s General Counsel and an attorney for El Dorado County.

Siri Nelson
Siri Nelson, Chief Executive Officer

President and CEO of Marshall since May 2019, Siri began her healthcare administration career in accounting and finance. Before coming to Marshall, Siri previously served as Chief Executive Officer at South Meadows Medical Center in Reno. Her previous roles include Chief Financial Officer and Interim CEO at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson and Chief Administrative Officer at Sutter Lakeside in Lakeport. She currently chairs the American Hospital Association’s section for Small & Rural Hospitals.

Sean Anderson
Sean Anderson, MD, Chief of Staff

Dr. Anderson is a board-certified Anesthesiologist practicing at Marshall. He completed medical school and residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Prior to joining Marshall, he practiced at Dignity Health where he also served in various leadership roles including Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Staff. Dr. Anderson currently serves as Chief of Staff at Marshall, where he has been a long-standing voting member of the Medical Executive Committee.

Pete Barba
Gerardo Galang, MD, Board Director

Dr. Galang is a board certified internal medicine physician. He received his medical degree from the University of the East in the Philippines. He completed his internal medicine residency at Atlantic Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, as well as a fellowship in geriatrics from the University of Hawaii.

Anna Blair
Anna Blair, RN, Board Director

Anna is Vice President of Operations for Global Medical Response. Anna served as a Nurse Corps Officer in the US Navy and then began a career in transport medicine in 2006. Anna graduated Summa Cum Laude from Dominican University in San Rafael California with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She lives in El Dorado County with her husband and three children, and loves to spend time outdoors hiking, snowboarding, or on the lake.

Andrea Howard
Andrea Howard, Board Director

Andrea joined Parker Development Company in 1994 and has become a seasoned expert in residential property management, land planning, entitlements, construction management and administration. Since becoming an El Dorado County resident in 2005, she has been active in the non-profit community and volunteers on a number boards, including the Board of Trustees for Marshall Foundation for Community Health since 2014.

John R. Knight
John R. Knight, Board Director

John is an elected Los Rios Board Trustee, and also formerly served as Supervisor for the County of El Dorado. He was a lieutenant in the El Dorado Hills Fire Department for 19 years and has 40 years of experience in commercial real estate. John is an active member and volunteer of various community organizations in the county.

Alexis Long
Alexis Long, MD, Board Director

Dr. Long has served as medical director for the Marshall Emergency Department and the Wound Care Center. Previous board memberships include the Emergency Medicine Physicians Medical Group and Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Association. Dr. Long graduated from UC Irvine with her medical degree and completed her emergency medicine residency at UC Irvine Medical Center.

Christeen Reeg
Christeen Reeg, Board Director

Christeen has more than three decades of professional experience in the area of investment planning. She is past chair of the Los Rios Community College Foundation, served as a Board Member of Snowline Hospice, is currently Chair of the Planned Giving Committee for the El Dorado Community Foundation and is a member of the Assistance League of Sacramento’s Advisory Council.

Kim Stoll
Kim Stoll, Board Director

Kim is an accomplished marketing professional with over a decade of experience as the director of marketing and communications for the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians. Her early career was spent in the hotel casino industry where she held executive positions. She also served as the director of marketing for a hospital in the Reno/Sparks area. Kim has a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in political science from the University of Nevada.

Brian Veerkamp
Brian Veerkamp, Board Director

Brian was born and raised in El Dorado County. He retired as the Fire Chief of the El Dorado Hills Fire Department after 30 years in Public Emergency Services. He served as the District III Supervisor for El Dorado County from 2012-2020. Brian's community involvement includes El Dorado County Fire Chiefs Association, Camino Union School District, the El Dorado County Emergency Services Joint Powers Authority, Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Boys and Girls Club and the Marshall Foundation for Community Health.

Mike Pervis
Mike Pervis, Board Director

Mike is a retired healthcare executive who started his medical career as a physical therapist and expanded his career path to become a successful CEO of numerous hospitals and health systems across California and Arizona. With a passion for community service, Mike has served on several boards including chambers of commerce, county economic development, regional healthcare and numerous other community initiatives. Mike looks forward to the opportunity to further give back to the community by serving on Marshall’s Board of Directors.
