2016 Board of Directors

The Marshall Hospital Corporation was born in 1956 and the hospital’s first Board of Directors was elected. Marshall Medical Center continues to operate as a nonprofit, public benefit corporation and is organized without any intention of pecuniary gain to any person, persons or corporation. Marshall uses its funds for upgrading programs, purchasing new equipment and developing medical services that provide for the healthcare needs of the community. The Marshall Medical Center Board of Directors is a volunteer group of community members who provide their time and experience to set policies, maintain Marshall’s financial stability and make decisions that affect the future of the organization. We are proud to present the new officers, new members and returning members that will represent Marshall on the 2013 Board of Directors.

Jayne Moore, Chair
Jayne Moore has lived in El Dorado County since 1961 and graduated from El Dorado High School. Her three children were all raised in El Dorado County and also graduated from El Dorado High School. Jayne has worked for El Dorado Savings Bank for 35 years and is currently a senior Vice President/Branch Administrator.
John Driscoll, Vice Chair
John Driscoll, a native of California, joined the Foundation Board in 2005 and became active in finance, planned giving and strategic planning for the organization. He is new the Marshall Board in 2011. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from UCLA, and earned a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1969. He has received numerous American Jurisprudence awards, published articles for the Law Review and became its Managing Editor, and received the distinguished Appellate Advocacy award for Best Brief in Annual Moot Court Competition.

John moved to Placerville in 1970 and was the Assistant District Attorney in the early 70's. In 1974, John went into private practice with an emphasis on real property, business law, civil litigation and estate planning. He became the Placerville City Attorney in 1989 and Placerville City Manager/Attorney in 2000. John and his wife Pam, who is a teacher at Charles Brown school, have been married for 41 years. They have two sons, Jeff and Matt. John's activities include camping and skiing and Pam enjoys quilting.

Bruce Dickson, Secretary/Treasurer
Bruce Dickson and his wife Glenda moved to El Dorado County in 1989. In 1992 he began the Financial Planning firm of Lane, Dickson & Associates, LLC. In 2008, he formed Dickson Financial Advisors to focus on working with foundations and endowments, managing the assets of families and private trusts, as well as working in the eldercare environment. Professionally he is a member of the Financial Planning Association, the Financial Services Institute and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. An active member of the community, Bruce has served as a Trustee of the Marshall Foundation for community Health (President 2000 – 2004). More recently, Bruce served with Gael Barsotti as Co-chair of the Emergency Room Capital Campaign. He has also served the community through his affiliation with the Kiwanis Club of Placerville (President 1999 – 2000), the Planned Giving Advisory Council (Charter Member), Cameron Park Community Advisory Board and as a life member of Sierra Wildlife Rescue. Bruce and Glenda make their home in Camino, CA.

  Dr. Bradley Barnhill, Chief of Staff
Bradley Barnhill, MD is a board certified internal medicine physician. A past Marshall Chief of Staff, he returned to the post on Jan. 1, 2017. He has been serving the people of El Dorado County since 1991. Dr. Barnhill moved to El Dorado County following the completion of his medical degree from University of Texas and his residency in New Orleans. He was eager to care for patients in a small community and enjoys helping them get and stay  healthy, whether through in-office appointments or hospital care. Dr. Barnhill is married with two daughters and in his spare time he enjoys reading, snow-skiing, hiking, gardening and cooking.

  Dr. Stanley Henjum, Board Member
Dr. Stanley Henjum is a board certified cardiologist at Marshall Cardiology. He was appointed Marshall Medical Center Chief of Staff in 2013. Dr. Henjum received his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He completed his internship and residency at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA and his fellowship in Cardiology at the Naval Hospital in San Diego. Dr. Henjum also did a fellowship in electrophysiology from University of California, San Diego. He provides general cardiology care including diagnostic cardiac catheterizations.

Prior to 1993, Dr. Henjum held assignments as a cardiology physician and clinical instructor in San Diego and La Jolla. He completed his Naval service as Lieutenant Commander in 1993.


Dr. Rajiv Pathak, Board Member
Rajiv Pathak, MD, is a board certified neurologist and former Chief of Staff for Marshall Medical Center. Dr. Pathak completed his residency in Neurology from UC Davis Medical Center and has been a physician in our community for nearly 25 years.

  Harry Norris, Board Member
Harry Norris has been a resident of and business owner in El Dorado County for 25 years. He is now retired but remains active in the community, on volunteer and elected boards, Harry brings a strong sense of commitment to his work. Harry is a past commissioner of LAFCO (Local Agency Formation Commission) and was a board member for El Dorado Irrigation District from 2007-2011. He was a 10-year member of the El Dorado County School Board as well as a founding member of the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce among other commitments. His involvement has earned him several local awards, including the 1999 Leader in Boardsmanship Award and 2003 Spirit of Boardsmanship Award from El Dorado County School Boards Association, the El Dorado Hills Citizen of the Year in 1998, and the 1990 El Dorado County Outstanding Small Business award. Harry lives in El Dorado Hills. He has a married son, an “ideal” daughter-in-law and a wonderful young grandson.

  Dr. Pete Barba, Board Member
Pete Barba, MD is a family practice physician from Englewood, Colorado. Dr. Barba has worked closely in the past with trauma service, stroke teams and an oncology group as a medical consultant. Dr. Barba attended Temple University School of Medicine where he completed his Medical Doctorate in 2001 and received Academic Honors throughout his medical education. To further his education, Dr. Barba completed a residency in family practice at Swedish Family Medicine at the University of Colorado between 2001-2004, where he finished his last year as chief resident.

  Dr. Beth Goodlin-Jones, Board Member
Beth Goodlin-Jones, Ph.D. is a clinical developmental psychologist, the clinical research coordinator for the UC Davis MIND Institute and an active member of the clinical diagnostic assessment teams in addition to owning Lava Cap Winery in Camino, CA. 

Wendy Thomas, Board Member
Wendy Mattson has a diverse background that includes real estate development, small business ownership and a career as a professional artist. She has been a member of the Placerville City Council since 2010 and served as Vice Mayor. She is passionate about Placerville and dedicates a great deal of her time to community volunteer work. She is the founder of the Broadway Village Association, member of Kiwanis and the proud mother of two daughters. A descendent of a pioneer family that settled in Placerville in 1850, Wendy was born at Marshall Hospital where her grandmother, a nurse, delivered her.

Gabrielle Marchini, Board Member 
Gabrielle Marchini was raised in Diamond Springs and returned to El Dorado County after attending college in Southern California.  Currently, she resides in the Gold Hill area with her husband and two sons on the family fruit ranch.  An advocate for children, Gabrielle has served in the Buckeye Union School District for 20 years as a teacher, a principal, and in her current role as Assistant Superintendent with oversight of curriculum, instruction, and technology.  She has enjoyed supporting her children in numerous activities including 4-H, FFA, sports, and People to People International.

Dale van Dam, Board Member 
Dale van Dam moved to El Dorado County in 1994 with his wife Adale, son Calvin and daughter Anneke. Dale is a registered professional geologist in five western states and has more than 20 years of experience as an environmental geologist and hydrologist. He has been an owner of three different local environmental consulting firms. Over the past 15 years, his focus has been on education - teaching Earth science and Geographic Information Systems courses to undergraduates at American River College, Sierra College, Yuba College and California State University, Sacramento. For the past six years he has been the Dean of Instruction at the El Dorado Center of Folsom Lake College located in Placerville. Dale is an active Board member of the Placerville Kiwanis Club and also serves on the Board of Snowline Hospice, the El Dorado County Economic Development Corporation, El Dorado County’s Economic Development Advisory Committee, the Resource Advisory Committee of the US Forest Service in El Dorado County and the Placerville Area Convergence Team. Dale is interested in all aspects of community building and in promoting education’s role in a vibrant, diversified and sustainable local economy.

  Jim Abercrombie, Board Member
Jim Abercrombie has been a resident of El Dorado County since 1987. He managed Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E) El Dorado County gas and electric distribution business unit from 1987 to 1998. With more than 30 years of management experience, including 11 years with Amador Water Agency as General Manager and 20 years at PG&E, he is currently employed as General Manager of El Dorado Irrigation District. A registered civil engineer, he earned an Engineering Degree and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business.

He has a long record of community service. He is a past President of the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce, El Dorado County Development Corporation and El Dorado County United Way as well as past chair of the El Dorado Leadership Program. Currently, he is a member of the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce, Placerville Rotary, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Posse, and S.A.G.E. (Surveyors, Architects, Geologists, and Engineers). Jim and his wife Ginny live in Placerville, along with their three children and four grandchildren.


George Neilsen, Board Member
George Neilsen is a long-time Placerville resident. He served as the Placerville Police Chief from 2004-2013, and had nearly 30 years of service with the police at his retirement. He has served on the boards of many local organizations, including as President of the Board of Trustees for Marshall Foundation. 
  Tom Chandler, Board Member
Tom Chandler, owner of Inter-County Title Company, has been a Placerville resident since 1970. Early in his career, he served in the United States Marine Corps and graduated with a degree in Business Administration from California State Polytechnic University. Actively serving the community, Tom previously served on the Board of the Marshall Foundation for Community Health for ten years, as well as the Board of Governors of the California Land Title Association for more than ten years. Tom has two sons and daughters-in-law who also live locally, along with four granddaughters.
