Marshall ENT Surgery

• Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS): During this procedure, a small endoscope is inserted through the nose to visualize the sinus pathways. Targeted tissue is then removed to create larger openings, allowing the sinuses to drain more effectively.
• Balloon Sinuplasty: During the procedure, a tiny balloon is placed within the sinus opening and inflated to enlarge the passageway, helping restore normal drainage without cutting or removing tissue.
• Image-Guided Sinus Surgery: For anatomically complex sinus conditions, the surgeon uses a computer-assisted navigation system that combines 3D CT imaging with instrument tracking technology. This real-time guidance helps accurately identify anatomical structures and enhances surgical precision.
• Tonsillectomy: A tonsillectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the tonsils, the two small glands located at the back of the throat. It is commonly recommended for individuals who experience frequent or persistent tonsil infections, enlarged tonsils that interfere with breathing or swallowing, or sleep-related breathing problems such as obstructive sleep apnea. The procedure is performed through the mouth using specialized surgical instruments, so no external incisions are required. By removing the tonsils, a tonsillectomy can help reduce recurring infections, improve breathing and sleep quality, and enhance overall comfort and well-being.
• Myringotomy: A myringotomy is a minor surgical procedure used to treat fluid buildup or pressure behind the eardrum. During the procedure, the physician creates a small opening in the eardrum to allow trapped fluid to drain from the middle ear, helping to relieve discomfort, improve hearing, and reduce the risk of recurrent ear infections. In some cases, a small ventilation tube (ear tube) may be placed in the opening to help maintain airflow and prevent future fluid accumulation. Myringotomy is commonly performed for patients with chronic middle ear fluid, recurrent ear infections, or persistent ear pressure, and is typically completed as an outpatient procedure with a short recovery period.
• Direct video laryngoscopy with biopsy: A direct video laryngoscopy with vocal cord biopsy is a procedure used to closely examine the voice box (larynx) and vocal cords using a specialized camera-equipped instrument. During the procedure, the physician carefully inspects the vocal cords and surrounding tissues and may remove a small tissue sample (biopsy) from any abnormal area for laboratory evaluation. This procedure is commonly performed to investigate persistent hoarseness, vocal cord lesions, abnormal growths, or other throat-related concerns. The biopsy results help guide diagnosis and treatment planning while preserving the safety and function of the vocal cords whenever possible.
• Septoplasty: A septoplasty is a surgical procedure to straighten a deviated nasal septum, the wall that separates the nasal passages. By improving the alignment of the septum, the procedure can enhance airflow, reduce nasal obstruction, and help relieve symptoms such as congestion, recurrent sinus infections, and difficulty breathing through the nose. The surgery is typically performed through the nostrils without external incisions.
• Coblation of turbinates: Coblation turbinate reduction is a minimally invasive procedure used to reduce the size of enlarged nasal turbinates, which can contribute to chronic nasal congestion and difficulty breathing through the nose. Using controlled, low-temperature radiofrequency energy, the physician gently shrinks excess tissue beneath the surface of the turbinates while preserving their normal function. The goal of the procedure is to improve nasal airflow, relieve congestion, and enhance breathing comfort. Coblation turbinate reduction is typically performed on an outpatient basis and is associated with minimal discomfort and a relatively quick recovery.
