BETA Healthcare Group (BETA), the largest professional liability insurer of hospitals on the West Coast, announced that Marshall has met the requirements of Quest for Zero: Excellence in Emergency Department (ED) and Obstetrics (OB), demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement in striving to eliminate preventable harm to those in need of emergent care.

“We are very proud to receive this prestigious award for perinatal safety,” says Mary Ann Gulutz, MSN, RN-C, NE-BC, Director of Perinatal Services at Marshall. “Our Birth Center team works tirelessly, committing to education, evidence-based practice and simulation drills to achieve the highest level of safety for new moms and their babies.”

Assistant Director of the Emergency Department, Scott Hall, RN, commented, “The team in the Emergency Department truly cares about our patients and community. In addition, they’re committed to optimizing our processes to ensure patients have the best experience and the highest level of care.”

BETA’s programs are focused on improving reliability and reducing risk exposure. This year marks Marshall’s fourth year of participation in this program for the ED and the sixth year for Obstetrics.
