Marshall Medical Celebrates "Give Where You Live 2015"

April 14, 2015

On April 23, the El Dorado Community Foundation will run its annual “Give Where You Live” day. This day of giving is a special 24-hour online and in-person giving day where Marshall staff, patients, and local residents are encouraged to donate to their favorite charities. Sponsored and organized by the El Dorado Community Foundation, whose website, www.eldoradocf.org, will be the central gateway for information, the event will feature a live “ticker” reflecting the accumulated total donations throughout the day. Approximately 70 El Dorado County nonprofits will be participating in the event this year.

Marshall Medical has identified three areas within the organization that have special funding needs and we are counting on great community support. Rally to support Marshall’s Images of Hope, Community Health Library, and Marshall Foundation on April 23rd! These programs are excited to be part of Give Where You Live Day. Each program has a wish list showing what your donation can buy.

There are many ways to support healthcare through Marshall Foundation by making a donation for programs that care for people, but they have a special need they are reaching out for on Give Where You Live day this year: the Healing Garden at Marshall Hospital in Placerville. Exposing patients to nature can alleviate pain and alter moods. This is the goal for the proposed garden, and your donation can contribute to this effort. Your gift could help to create a water feature for tranquil sound; buy plants and herbs; or a bench for relaxed reflection.

The Marshall Community Health Library provides patients, families, and the community with reliable health information, free of charge. Their library books, CDs, and DVDs are available for loan, with friendly staff and volunteers to provide assistance. With donations from Give Where You Live, the library can purchase resources for patients such as a DVD on caregiving for dementia, a book on diet for diabetes, or an anatomical model of the digestive system.

Images of Hope El Dorado strives to promote cancer awareness activities, events and ongoing support for our local community. Creative arts therapy allows cancer patients to express things that may be difficult to talk about, and aid in the healing process for those whose lives have been affected by cancer. Your Give Where You Live donation to this program could pay for art supplies for cancer patients, a 6- week series of Gentle Yoga or Qigong, or perhaps a blanket for a patient going through chemotherapy.

On April 23rd there will be many ways to give. Physical drop-off locations throughout the county will be accepting checks or cash. In Cameron Park, the Marshall Community Health Library at 3581 Palmer Dr., Bldg. 101, will be one of the official drop-off locations for Give Where You Live donations. In Placerville, Marshall Foundation for Community Health will be open to receive walk-ins at 1124 Sherman St, Placerville (corner of Sherman and Turner).

Mark your calendar to show your support on April 23rd!
