MARSHALL MEDICAL CENTER SPONSORS FALL PREVENTION EVENT, OCTOBER 29

According to the National Council on Aging (NCOA), one in four Americans over the age of 35 falls every year. Falls are the leading cause of injuries for the elderly. But falling does not have to be an inevitable part of aging. On October 29, a Fall Prevention event will be offered by Marshall Medical Center and Marshall Foundation for Community Health, and co-hosted by the El Dorado Hills Community Services District and the Family Caregiver Support Program of the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) at Gilmore Senior Center at 990 Lassen Lane in El Dorado Hills, from 1 – 3pm.

At the event, health professionals will be available for the following, which may impact fall-related injuries:

  • Vision screening
  • Fitness screening
  • Balance and strength information
  • Blood pressure screening
  • Pharmacist review of medications (prescription and over-the-counter)
  • Home Safety Review
  • Vertigo Assessment

In addition, there will be presentations throughout the event from Marshall physicians and others and refreshments will be available.

HHSA will be on hand for the event to provide information about local services for older adults and caregivers in El Dorado County. Information about HHSA's older adult programs can also be found online at https://www.edcgov.us/SeniorService.aspx.
