About Necati Uygur Tekin
Necati U. Tekin, MD, is board certified in cardiology, and had prior board certifications in critical care medicine and internal medicine as well. His prior experience handling critically ill patients helps him in caring for his cardiology patients. He joined Marshall Cardiology in July 2006.
Dr. Tekin is a native of Türkiye. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1990. Between 1991 and 1999, he completed internal medicine training at Lenox Hill Hospital, and completed fellowship trainings in critical care medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center and cardiology at Long Island College Hospital all in New York City. He started his cardiology practice in Alice, TX in 2000, where he remained until moving to Placerville and starting work at Marshall in 2006. He served as chief of staff at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital in Alice, Texas in 2005.
Dr. Tekin's professional affiliations include the American College of Physicians, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American College of Cardiology, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. He performs most coronary angiographies by radial artery approach, which reduces bleeding risk and helps in the recovery process.
Dr. Tekin is an all-around general cardiologist with emphasis on preventive cardiology. He is also the director of the Pritikin Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at Marshall.
Dr. Tekin and wife Derya have been raising their two children while all relatives remain in Turkey. Depending on the time of year, he enjoys skiing, tennis, swimming, hiking, going to the movies, or attending live events with his family.
