William H. Ip, MD

William H. Ip, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who joined Marshall Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in 2026, practicing in both the Placerville and El Dorado Hills clinics. Dr. Ip treats a broad range of general orthopedic conditions with an emphasis on foot and ankle pathology. His surgical interests include minimally invasive bunion and foot and ankle surgery, forefoot deformities, Achilles tendon disorders, ankle sprains and chronic instability, complex foot and ankle reconstruction, total ankle replacement, fracture care, and sports-related injuries.

Dr. Ip believes the best decisions are informed ones. He enjoys walking each patient through all their treatment options, both conservative and surgical, so they can choose the path that best fits their goals and their life. What he loves most about his work is seeing patients get better in clinic and make real progress toward a better quality of life.

Dr. Ip is originally from Texas, where he earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of Texas at Austin. He then attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston before moving to Sacramento for his orthopedic surgery residency at UC Davis Medical Center.

During residency, Dr. Ip gained broad, hands-on experience across all areas of orthopedics, and was honored by the faculty with the Reno Orthopedic Trauma Clinic Award. He subsequently completed a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he focused on the advanced care of foot and ankle conditions.

Having spent significant time training in Sacramento and with his wife being a Folsom native, Dr. Ip feels privileged to be back practicing in the community. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, trying new food, snowboarding, spending time with family, and spoiling his dog, Walter.
