El Dorado County Maternity Services

Mother and BabyThe new Marshall Birth Center opened in 2013 as a state-of-the-art facility and one of the Sacramento region’s most modern. It boasts spacious, all-private suites with many amenities to keep you and your family comfortable and safe. With a focus on breastfeeding and encouraging skin-to-skin bonding after birth, Marshall Medical Center was officially recognized as Baby Friendly Hospital ® by the World Health Organization and UNICEF.

Features & Amenities

Large birthing suites, where mothers can labor and deliver in the same room, feature an abundance of natural light. Rooms come equipped with both a whirlpool tub (to ease contraction pains) and a comfortable sleeper sofa (for your spouse or support person). Aromatherapy is available to relieve nausea or headaches. Our dedicated lactation consultants provide valuable breastfeeding instruction. Parents are also coached the benefits of skin-to-skin contact with their newborn.

From these comforts, to our excellent OB/GYN and pediatric physicians and experienced nurses, you can expect nothing but the best for you and your baby at Marshall.

We have a wide variety of classes, support groups and education classes available, click to check them out.

Designated Baby Friendly®

Research shows that immediate skin-to-skin contact between mom and baby relieves pain, reduces stress and stabilizes body temperature for both mom and child. It also boosts bonding and initiates breastfeeding. While the newborn stays with the parents, our dedicated lactation consultants provide valuable breastfeeding instruction. These efforts helped Marshall’s Birth Center earn the distinction as a “Baby Friendly” hospital designated by UNICEF and the World Health Organization.
