Anna Blair, RN, a member of the Placerville, California-based Marshall health system board of directors, and a National Director for Global Medical Response, will serve as a regional trustee delegate to American Hospital Association (AHA) Regional Policy Board 9.
The AHA is the national nonprofit organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, healthcare networks and their patients and communities. AHA regional policy boards are part of the AHA’s formal governance structure. The organization uses regional recommendations to inform national health policy development. Regional policy boards meet three times annually.
“The trustee delegate is a difficult seat to fill, but Anna Blair offers exactly the kind of perspective we seek," said Sean Barry, AHA Regional Executive. "Her operations, emergency medical transport, and military background will enrich the discussion around the table. She is also a strong advocate for Marshall and the needs of independent, rural providers of care.”
The AHA Board of Trustees appointed Blair to a three-year term through December 31, 2028.
“It is an honor to be selected to serve on the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board 9, representing the western United States,” said Blair. “As a nurse, and as a board member for a rural healthcare organization, this role provides me the opportunity to bring a clinical perspective to regional and national policy discussions, ensuring that the voices of our patients and caregivers help shape the healthcare decisions that impact our communities’ care. Policies must be designed to ensure the sustainability of rural healthcare services, as we are a lifeline to so many communities.”
Regional Policy Board 9 includes AHA member hospitals and health systems leaders from Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and the Pacific islands of American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas. The California Hospital Association (CHA) and other state and regional associations also hold ex officio seats on the board.
The current chair of Regional Policy Board 9 is Mason Van Houweling, CEO of University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, in Las Vegas. Van Houweling also sits on the AHA Board of Trustees.
Anna Blair served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy Nurse Corps and began her career in transport medicine in 2006, serving as a flight nurse following her service. She is a National Director for Global Medical Response, the leading air and ground mobile patient care and EMS provider in the nation. She is a resident of El Dorado County. Blair joined the board of directors of Marshall in 2023.
