Join the Patient and Family Advisory Council
The Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) was established to support Marshall’s efforts to examine and improve Marshall’s programs, policies, and procedures. Engaging community members who have had experience with Marshall either as a patient or as a family member of a patient, brings a valuable perspective to Marshall’s current practice.
Marshall is recruiting up to 15 council members who would like to volunteer for a one-year term to attend monthly meetings. Marshall employees and providers are not eligible to apply. The roles and responsibilities of members include:
- Serving as the voice of the patient/family
- Sharing experiences and issues/concerns
- Assisting Marshall employees and providers to better understand the needs and expectations of the patient/family
- Recommending improvements to Marshall’s workflows, policies and procedures
- Reviewing communication and educational materials from the patient perspective
- Reviewing patient satisfaction results and make recommendations based on concerns identified
- Identifying cultural barriers and help identify strategies to overcome them
- Providing input and recommendations on new services
- Assisting with and considering matters referred by the Patient Safety Committee, Risk Management, or Quality Department.
Applications are being accepted for PFAC membership. In order to ensure a diverse composition of members, candidates will be screened and interviewed. Successful candidates will be on-boarded as a full Marshall Community Volunteer, which includes passing a background check, showing a negative TB skin test, and either complete or submit a formal declination for the influenza and COVID vaccines. Volunteers will also need to be trained on HIPAA privacy guidelines, as council work may include access to sensitive information.
